Clog Maker - Simon Brock

Simon Brock is one of only a handful of makers worldwide serving the needs of clog dancers. He was mentored by Trefor Owen and Rick Rybicki, and since 2018 has been making clogs full-time for morris and step dancers, as well as for general wear (and even the occasional fashion show). In 2019 Simon won two heritage craft awards to enable him to train with Jeremy Atkinson, preserving the skills of carving soles entirely by hand.

Anyone who has been to Wallopers, City Clickers, Camden or the Lancashire & Cheshire Clog Competitions will know the simple joy of browsing and trying on clogs during the breaks between workshops! So we've tried to replicate that experience for Clogzoom.

During the weekend:
Simon will be running two workshops on Saturday: the first is a short explanation about how to get clogs that fit well using only 'remote fitting' methods of drawing and measuring your feet. Later in the day, he will be available after the dance workshops to take orders for new clogs. Also a chance to ask questions about colours, toe shapes, styles etc. and discuss standard-fitting clogs that are in stock for immediate dispatch. On Sunday morning you can watch a half-hour video of Simon in his workshop, demonstrating how clogs are made from start to finish.

In order to book a slot with Simon on Saturday afternoon, please contact Jen, or your workshop steward, during the day.
